Get ready for the most epic two-wheeled adventure in Quindío. This guided mountain bike tour takes you from Salento to La Carbonera, the largest and best-preserved wax palm sanctuary in the region and the world's most extensive forest of our national tree, where you'll ride among thousands of giant palms, taller and denser than those in Valle del Cocora.
It's a total immersion in the Andean landscape that combines the adrenaline of MTB with the majesty of the wax palm forest. So you can enjoy the best descent without wearing yourself out, we cover part of the climb in a 4×4 vehicle; then it's just you and your bike on rural trails, dirt roads and unforgettable páramo scenery.
Tour Details
What will you experience?
You'll start in Salento warming up your legs with panoramic views of the Coffee Cultural Landscape. To save energy and enjoy the best descent, we drive part of the way up in a 4×4 vehicle to the upper area of the mountain.
From there, you'll ride among thousands of wax palms in La Carbonera, a stunning natural setting that's less crowded than Cocora, on dirt roads and trails that challenge you in a fun way and reward you with páramo views.
Halfway through, we stop for a picnic (15 to 25 minutes) to recharge with your snack, always accompanied by the expert cycling guide and with full protective gear. Then you'll enjoy the scenic descent before returning to Salento.
Difficulty level and fitness
This is an intermediate-advanced tour: basic mountain biking experience and good physical fitness are required, since you'll ride on unpaved roads and trails. The most demanding climb is done in a 4×4 vehicle so you can make the most of the route. Keep in mind the altitude and the mountain's changing weather.
Departure times
We offer several departure times in the morning so you can choose the one that best suits your pace; you can select the available time when booking. We run every day of the year with a minimum of two confirmed participants, and advance booking is required. We recommend arriving 10 minutes early to make the most of the day.
